This Food for Life 5-week journey is an evidence-based nutrition education and cooking program designed by doctors and registered nutritionists. The goal is to translate the confusing and complex scientific nutrition information into simple, tasty, health-promoting meals that you can cook at home.
What to Expect
A diet of whole grains, beans, vegetables, and fruit can help prevent and even reverse chronic diseases like diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. It can also help you achieve and maintain a healthy weight. The curriculum is based on the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine's successful 21-Day Vegan Kickstart Program.
Food for Life is an award-winning nutrition education and cooking class program that provides an innovative approach to diet-related chronic diseases. Since 2001, Food for Life has been a pioneer in delivering hands-on information about the direct role of plant-based nutrition in health and disease prevention to communities around the world.
Food for Life promotes healthful eating based on the latest scientific research. Each Food for Life class includes:
- Specific information about how certain foods and nutrients work to promote or discourage disease
- Cooking demonstrations & "cook-alongs" of delicious and healthful recipes
- Practical cooking skills and tips for incorporating healthful eating habits into daily life
- A supportive and motivational atmosphere to empower participants to take charge of their health with the foods that are put on their plates
- You'll receive recipes, shopping lists, meal planners, and more!
The series is designed to help you learn about why a whole food, plant-based diet supports your best health and how to apply what you're learning week to week so at the end of January, you're prepared to make this work for yourself! People who take the program and follow the recommendations report that the results are immediate and impressive.
